Flag of South Vietnam

The flag of Vietnam of the South was in the years 1890-1920 the flag of the Vietnamese Empire. In 1948, the Emperor Bao Dai proclaimed it the flag of the State of Vietnam, and after the division of the country became the flag of South Vietnam.

After the Communist takeover on April 30, 1975, until the reunification of the state in 1976, the flag of South Vietnam was the official flag of Vietkong.

The South Vietnam flag is used by some immigrant communities.
