Amata (queen)
Amata - the queen of Lazio in Roman mythology. She was the wife of a Latino, with whom she was the daughter of Lawrence, one of the important figures of Virgil's Eneidy.
Among the candidates to hand the daughter chose Turnus, the ruler of the neighboring Rutul. When her husband decided to give her daughter Aneas, Amata (partially under the influence of Juno and Alekto fury) stood on the side of Turnus. At the ending of the battle of Aneesza with Turnus, the latter died, Amata, broken by the death of Turnus and the defeat of her plans, hanged herself. Bibliography
