It has better performance than two fins, as it avoids the turbulence of water in the space between the fins. Because of the combination of feet, it does not allow the scissors (crawl) to move, allowing only the "dolphin" to swim. Float or diver with a monopole can not walk. For these reasons, and also because mastering the technique of "dolphin" requires more skill than swimming, the monopoles are mainly used by the skilled swimmers. The monoprinter was constructed by swimmers from the Ukrainian club of scuba divers in 1972.
