Saumakos (Σαυμακος) was the leader of the Scythian uprising in the Bosporan Kingdom in the years 107-106 BC.

Its origin raises many doubts. Most likely, he was a Scythian slave who grew up and served in the court of the Bosnian ruler Perisada V. He led the rise of the Scythian slaves and the urban poor in Pantipapon, during which Perisad was killed, possibly by Saumakos himself, who was subsequently declared king by the insurgents. Within two months he had mastered the whole realm of the realm, becoming his real master. His power lasted almost a year, until the spring of 106 BC. The fleet and the Pontyan army under the command of Diofantos landed on the Crimean shore, beginning to suppress the uprising. The Teutonic Knights and the Panticapayon, in which the leader of the uprising was captured, reproached the Pondry. Saumakos was sent to Pontus and was executed there.

There are known coins from the days of Saumakos's government, where Genius's head and Saumakos's name are known. Bibliography
