Wave Rock
Wave Rock
Wave Rock is a granite cliff located in Hyden (about 340 km east of Perth) in the state of Western Australia in Australia.
It is 15 m high and 100 m long. The rock formation owes its shape to water and wind erosion, was shaped in its present form about 60 million years ago. In the sixties, crystals from Wave Rock were analyzed and dated for at least 2.7 billion years.
Color belts on rock walls are caused by rain flushing minerals (mainly iron compounds), forming yellow, red and gray bands.
