Karol Różycki (general)


Karol Różycki (born 1789 in Hucyłówka near Chernivtsi in the Jampolski district, died in 1870 in Paris) - Polish journalist and publicist, general of the January Uprising.

Since 1809 he served in the Duchy of Warsaw and as a riding officer participated in all of her campaigns in the years 1815 - 1822 in the army of the Kingdom of Poland. He was farmed in Volhynia. After the uprising of the 1830 uprising, a co-organizer of the armed forces in Volhynia, and as commander of the regiment, he fought in the composition of General Józef Dwernicki's Corps. After capitulation he emigrated to France and worked in democratic organizations under the patronage of General Józef Dwernicki (Young Poland, Democratic Society and others). In 1842 he became associated with A. Towiański.

In 1853 the Turkish government invited him to his service as a general. The proposal did not accept.

After the outbreak of the January 1863 uprising, the National Government called for him to join and advance to the general. He came to Cracow, but after learning about the situation he did not join and returned to Paris, where he died. Housed in the cemetery of Montmartre. Father Edmund Różycki, the general of the January Uprising, and brother-in-law of Sadyk Pasha.
