Wiener Werkstätte
Wiener Werkstätte (Viennese Workshops) - Produktiv-Gemeinschaft von Kunsthandwerkern (Artistic Craftsmanship Co-operative). Handicraft workshop, founded in 1903 by Josef Hoffman and Koloman Moser. Inspired by the Vienna Secession, and the British Arts & amp; Crafts, especially the Charles Ashbee Guild and School of Handicraft. The main aim of the workshop was to treat the craftsman and designer equally, who together had signed the finished product.
After 1905, the Wiener Werkstätte style denied secession and became the mainstream of then Vienna. It was characterized by simple forms and craftsmanship. However, after 1915 tastes of customers forced more ornamentation. The initial assumptions of Wiener Werkstätte were the production of simple and accessible products for every home, but quickly abandoned this vision and as a result, the studios only produced fashionable decorations for the wealthy.
