Feliks Pęczarski


Felix Pęczarski (born in 1804 in Warsaw, died 12th October 1862 in Włocławek) - Polish painter. Peczarski's painting, published in the Old Polish Encyclopaedia by Z. Gloger Szulerzy, 1845, National Museum in Warsaw

He was deaf; In 1818-1831 he was raised in the Institute of the Deaf in Warsaw. He studied Fine Arts and Painting at the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Warsaw with J. F. Krethlow, A. Blanka and Antoni Brodowski. He participated in exhibitions, receiving honors and medals. In 1828 he was in Germany. In 1847 he moved to Wloclawek.

He painted religious paintings and portraits, and fame brought him pictures of the genre and customs, often with a satirical tone, formally referring to the Dutch painting of the 17th century. The work of Pęczarski was typical of the deaf-mute live gestures and expressive facial expressions. Bibliography
