Grand Canyon National Monument
Grand Canyon National Monument is the name of two non-existent national monuments in the US state of Arizona.
The first monument to the Grand Canyon National Monument was established on January 11, 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt. Due to the size of the monument, its decision was appealed to the Supreme Court. In 1920, the court found it lawful to emphasize that the president has the right to set monuments of any size. In the meantime, on 19 November 1919, the United States Congress established the existing Grand Canyon National Park.
The second monument to the Grand Canyon National Monument was established on December 22, 1932 by the decision of US President Herbert Hoover. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt reduced his boundaries in 1940, and in 1975 his area was incorporated into the Grand Canyon National Park.
