General view of the cemetery
Jewish cemetery in Żory - was founded in 1814 and is the oldest cemetery in the city. The cemetery is located at ul. Cemetery. The cemetery has an area of 0.58 ha. It is enclosed by a wall and a net. In 1945, during the war, the burial house was demolished, dismantled in the 1960s, and the necropolis itself fell into ruin during the Polish People's Republic. It was used inter alia. as a playground. In 1985 the first cemetery inventory was made, and soon the cleaning work was done. The inventory was repeated in 1994. In the cemetery there are about 130 gravestones, of which 45 are standing. There are 59 old trees in the cemetery. Bibliography
