Wladyslaw Drzewiecki

In 1909, Władysław Drzewiecki began his studies at the Charlottenburg School Preparatory School, which he graduated in 1912, continuing his studies at the Royal Teachings Seminary in Pila. After graduating in 1913 he attended Cälilien-Kurse fur Katholische Kirchenmusik in Berlin, where he passed the organist's exam. In 1914 he started working as a music and singing teacher in Odolanów. Mobilized took part in the battles under Verdun. Released from the army, he enrolled in 1916 at the Royal Academy of Music in Munich. In 1917 he was re-appointed to the army. After the war ended, he moved to Poznań. He participated in an organized annual course for teachers of general schools in 1919. At the same time he worked in the conservatory of Geisler and Seligmann. After passing the examination in 1920, he worked in general schools, continuing his studies at the State Conservatory of Music and directing the male choir of teachers. From 1922, he was a teacher of musical education at the State Junior Gymnasium. St. John Kanty. His duties included teaching on instruments, running an orchestra and a school choir. He continued his studies at this school until 1939, teaching music at the Gimnazjum im. Berger (1926-1939) and Gimnazjum im. I.J. Paderewski (1931-1939). Having passed the extramural maturity exam in 1928, he studied musicology at the University of Poznań (1929-1933). He obtained his diploma in 1937. He survived in Poznań. He was an outstanding pedagogue. His action of musicalization covered a large group of junior high school students. His teams performed a very ambitious program. In recognition of his achievements he was invited to visit also other cities. During his studies he cooperated in the collection of folklore for the Regional Music Archives at Poznań University. Based on folklore, he composed compositions for choirs.
