Bagna Derlicz

Swamp Derlicz in square 118

Bagna Derlicz - a complex of large peat bogs situated in quarters: 117, 118 and 148 of Bialowieza Forest, near Nowosad. The swamp is dominated by a stand consisting mainly of mossy birch with a large mixture of black alder, common pine and swamp vegetation. It has its own post. Large, several dozen hectares fragments of over one hundred years old forest, nesting birds of prey, occurrence of gray wolf, and lynx formed to set up a nature reserve here (within the Białowieża Primeval Forest Reserve established in 2003). To the south of Bagni Derlicz, there is the Sorocza Bedding, which is located in the vicinity of the village of the same name.

The river flows from the eastern part of the swamp

Boreal marsh bogs growing on Swamp River Derlicz were subjected to rapid degradation during the operation of the Bialowieza Forest. By the end of the 1990s, the swamps were on the verge of severe gaseous pollution. The introduction of new regulations, including the construction of stone thresholds, has benefited the ecosystem and the regeneration processes are already noticeable. At the beginning of the current century, the amount of gaseous pollutants was also significantly reduced. Literature
