At first, he was interested in the history of the native Nysa, after moving to Police in 1980 became a specialist in the history of the Police Land. The result of his 20 years of studies on the history of Police is the monograph History of the Police from the time of the oldest settlement to World War II (Szczecin 1999), with a foreword reviewing it prof. Antoni Gizy and Mayor of the City of Police Wladyslaw Diakun. In 1996, he proposed the creation of a small, independent museum of regional history in the City of Police. This museum, the Police Historical Gallery, was opened at the turn of 1996 and 1997. It is located in the Civic Center of the Police. At the request of the municipality of Police, he prepared a documentation of the Police Lapidarium gathering the German tombs opened on 30 September 1998 with the participation of German guests. It also includes graphics and watercolors depicting former Police. Jan Matura also has achievements in the field of propagation of physical culture in Police. He was one of the first active runners in this city. Sports event initiator, participant in marathons and marathons in Poland and Europe, youth trainer, currently physical education teacher in Tanzania.
