Jewish Hospital in Wroclaw ul. Anthony
Jewish hospital
Jewish Hospital in Wroclaw - a Jewish medical institution in Wroclaw, located on 6 St. Anthony Street, next to the White Stork Synagogue. He was the second Jewish hospital in the city (the first one was built at the end of the 18th century near the current Włodkowica 19 street, just next to the existing urban walls).
The new hospital was purchased in 1838 by Jonas Fränckel's philanthropic funds. Construction and interior decoration was completed in 1841. The whole was financed by Fränckel Foundation. The hospital was very modern at that time, it had a large operating room, a library and a synagogue for patients and staff. Several orphanages also housed an orphanage for Jewish children.
In 1881 the Jewish Home for Chronic Illness was started. At the beginning of the 20th century, the number of patients was an average of 500. In 1903, the hospital was transferred to a new headquarters located at 92/96 Sudecka Street. Bibliography
