Julian Sielski

Julian Sielski - Poles awarded the Righteous Among the Nations medal awarded by the Yad Vash Institute.

During the Second World War he saved two Jewish girls - the Wolberg Etna and Hanna Wolberg. He owned the tenement at ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 36 in Lublin, where the Wolberg family lived. In 1942 he met by accident in a tenement house after escaping from the camp at Majdanek 16-year-old Etla. He helped her to get fake papers and then sent her parents home in Oblasy village near Janowiec. Antonina and Sylwester Sielscy gave shelter to the girl until the end of the war. Julian Sielski provided food and money for the maintenance of Etli and also provided correspondence between the Wolberg sisters.

In 2006 the Sielski family was posthumously honored with the Israeli Righteous Among the Nations Award. On July 18, 2007, on behalf of the Israeli Ambassador David Peleg, a medal and honorary certificate was received by Julian Sielski, daughter of Alina Miętek.
