Mezokarp

Cross section through peach Juicy mesocarp in peach fruit.

Mezokarp (albedo) - in the fruit of the hedgehog plants the middle layer of the fruit formed from the walls of the seedlings. It is located between the exocarp and the endocarp. While the extreme layers are usually thin (exocarp creates the skin on the fruit, the endocarp surrounds the seed, sometimes it is wooded and creates a seed), mesocarp is often quite thick. Because of its way of education it is distinguished by juicy fruits (thick mesocarp, meaty, made by crumb, eg in stone pits) or dry (dry mezocarp, eg in pods). Bibliography
