He was a court officer and chief. In 649 the emperor sent him on a mission of imprisoning Pope Martin I to Italy. Olimpios rebelled and declared himself ruler. He also gained support in Sicily. He made an alliance with the occupying majority of Italy with the Lombards, and with their help he intended to enter Constantinople. He died suddenly in preparation for the expedition. Bibliography
