Synagogue in Lędziny

Synagogue in Lędziny - a prayer house located in Lędziny.

The synagogue was founded in the early 20th century at the innkeeper Adolf Weissmann, just after the founding of the Jewish community in Lędziny. In 1924, Weissmann left for Germany, taking with him his equipment, which he left temporarily to the board of the Jewish community in Katowice.

After settling in Wroclaw, Adolf Weissmann demanded the transmission of synagogue equipment left in Katowice. At the same time, at the same time the board of the Jewish community in Bieruń also demanded the return of the synagogues, which formally owned it.

The administrative department of the Silesian Provincial Office, at the request of the Jews of Bieruń, ordered the Jewish community of Kędzierzyn to detain the subject matter of the dispute, and the kehillah in Bieruń obliged to agree on this matter with Weissmann in order to determine the right of ownership.

In the end, he agreed to leave their municipality for a partial payment, because he was their fundraiser and from his funds was kept a house of prayer in Lędziny. Bibliography
