Bouma sequence
Complete sequence of Bouma in Devonian Sandstone (Becke-Oese, Germany)
Bouma sequence - the sequence of five types of stratification and type of sediment occurring in a rock shed formed by a suspension current. Common structure in flysch.
The following sequence members are distinguished in the sequence of boulders:
The full boumy sequence is marked with a Tabcde symbol. Often there is an incomplete sequence, composed only of some members. The Bouma sequence is the result of deposition of sediments during the gradual deceleration of the suspension current and the decreasing force of the latter. The term was introduced by Arnold Bouma in 1962. Bibliography
