dumpling
Stew with three dumplings
Dumplings - a popular slab of Czech and Slovak cuisine. Prepared from dough, usually made on the basis of boiled potatoes (bramborový knedlík) or wheat flour (houskový knedlík) with added yeast. Dough is usually formed by a roll, which is cooked in salted water, cut into slices and steamed in steam. Dumplings are usually served with meat stew, roasted pork or a piece of meat with sauce. Stewed cabbage is usually added.
Dumplings can also be prepared with meat or fruit stuffing. This kind of dummy is usually a sphere.
There are also knedlík chlupatý - literally "hairy", identical to the well-known Silesian dumplings and served the same way. <
The dumplings are also found in German cuisine. In spite of the fact that Jan Hus appealed for the dish to be called a Czech cone (cz šišky).
