Wojciech Roeske
prof. Wojciech Roeske
Wojciech Roeske (born February 9, 1916, in Trzemeszno, Poland, April 25, 2001) - professor at the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University at the Faculty of Pharmacy. He was the first doctor of pharmacy in Poland and a lecturer in the history of pharmacy, as well as the head of the Department of Pharmacy History in Cracow. In the years 1965-1986 he was the director of the Museum of Pharmacy in Cracow.
Author of 14 books including Polish pharmacies (1991), Phytotherapy outline - Pharmacology and Recipe of Medicinal Herbs (1955), Bibliography of Polish Pharmaceutical Historiography (1973), 17 brochures and more than 300 articles in Polish and foreign magazines. Członek Polskiego Towarzystwa Farmaceutycznego, Academie Internationale d'Historie de la Pharmacie, Société d'Histoire de la Pharmacie, German Society for the History of Pharmacy, członek zarządu International Society for the History of Pharmacy. Jest laureatem Medalu Urdanga, przyznanego mu w 1993 roku przez American Institute of the History of Pharmacy za całokształt osiągnięć w światowej historiografii farmaceutycznej. Jest także laureatem Plakiety Schelenza (1981), przyznanej przez Międzynarodowe Towarzystwo Historii Farmacji.
