Hryhorij Omelczenko


Hryhorij Omelianovich Omelchenko, Григорій Омелянович Омельченко (born May 4, 1951 in Novoselka in the Poltava region) is a Ukrainian politician, educated lawyer. Curriculum vitae

Graduate of Kiev University, candidate for legal studies.

After graduating in the 1970s, he began work at the USRR Ministry of the Interior, and was also a lecturer at the Academy of Internal Affairs (militia school). After gaining independence he worked in the Security Service of Ukraine, earning a degree of colonel, and in 2007 the general. He joined the SBU in 1992 as Head of the Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime.

From 1994 to 2012 he continued his mandate to the Verkhovna Rada. He was the chairman of the extraordinary commission on the murder of Georgiy Gongadze and the assassination of Oleksandr Jeliashkiewicz and a member of the committee investigating the poisoning of Viktor Yushchenko.
