Jan Falkowski (geographer)


Jan Falkowski (born April 27, 1938 in Targowisko Dolny) - Polish geographer, specializing in economic geography and spatial economics

In 1956 he graduated from high school in Lubawa, and a year later he started studying geography at Nicolaus Copernicus University in ToruĊ„. He graduated in 1962, the subject of his MA thesis, conducted under the direction of Raymund Galon was the morphology of the Osa Valley. In 1969 he undertook his work at the Nicolaus Copernicus University. In 1973 he received his doctorate in geography and, in 1981, doctor habilitated. On December 27, 1993 he received the title of Professor of Earth Sciences, and in 1998 he became the full professor.

Twice (in the years 1982-1987 and 1996-1997) he was Deputy Director of the Institute of Geography of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, and in 1997-2002 the director of the Institute of Geography. Since 1988 he has held the position of manager of the Department of Spatial Management and Strategic Planning of the Institute of Geography. Selected publications
