Load carriers
Load carrier - an object that transfers electrical charge during current flow. The type of charge carrier depends on the construction of the material in which the cargo is transported.
In metals, charge carriers are electrons. In semiconductors, these are electrons, and when conductivity occurs in the valence band, the conductivity of the conductor is described using the notion of holes. In the electrolytes, for example in solutions of dissociating salts these are ions.
In more complex materials, load carriers can be even more sophisticated: for materials in the superconducting state, charge carriers are so-called. Coopers, with a great wealth of media can be found in the theory of solids.
