Wit Tarnawski


Wit Tarnawski (born July 6, 1894 in Kosovo at Pokuciu, died March 4, 1988 in Monmouth, Wales) is a Polish writer and literary critic. An expert on the works of Joseph Conrad, a trained physician.

He was born on July 6, 1894 as the son of Apollo Tarnawski, a well-known physician and founder of the sanatorium in Kosovo at Pokucie (south-eastern part of the Republic of Poland, Stanisławów province). On September 17, 1939 he crossed the Romanian border. Romania and his father arrived in Cyprus. He headed the Polish Committee in Cyprus and became editor-in-chief of the "Voice of Poland in Cyprus". In 1942 he joined the Polish Armed Forces in the Middle East. He moved to Palestine, where he assumed the position of chief physician of the Polish Junk Schools and the Junior Volunteer Schools.

Since 1948 he lived in the United Kingdom. He worked as a head nurse at a hospital in Wales. To retire in 1967. he made in his free time. He was active in the Writers Union of Poland. He wrote to London's "News" and the Parisian "Kultura". He issued 12 books. Books
