Have no one, except the right of maintenance for captivabimus
Neminem captivabimus nisi iure victum - the principle guaranteeing the personal integrity of the nobility in the Commonwealth, thus ensuring that the holder of such a right is not imprisoned without a court order.
This principle was originally formulated in the privilege granted by Władysław Jagiełło in Brześć Kujawski on April 25, 1425, but it did not enter into force. Eventually it was introduced with the privilege of the Uniate of March 4, 1430 and Cracow from January 9, 1433. The law of personal inviolability was then granted to the property. In 1447 this privilege was extended to Lithuanian nobility (boyars). Under the Law on Cities (1791), this privilege was extended to burghers from royal towns with immovable property.
