Maquiladora industries

Maquiladora industries (also called maquiladora or maquila) - a term referring to American factories, mostly located near the US border. These are factories using the free trade zone in NAFTA countries, which deal with the import of raw materials, processing and exporting them further. It has created inexpensive workforce in Mexico, and the opportunity to significantly reduce the cost of the product (bypass duty and other taxes).

The term comes from Spanish.
