Oscar Danker


Oskars Dankers (Nuremberg trials) Oskars Dankers (born 26 March 1883 in Irlava, Russia) (General), General Director of the Latvian Self-Government at the Ostland Commissary during the Second World War.

In 1919 he commanded the 7th Infantry Regiment in Sigulda, and then became the commander of the Kurzeme military region. Until 1932 he was the commander of the Semigali Division, and then went to the General Staff of the Latvian Army. From 1933 to 1939 he commanded the Kurland Division. After the annexation of Latvia by the USSR in 1940, he was discharged from military service. When the German army occupied Latvia in 1941, it cooperated with the occupying forces. He assumed the post of general director of the Latvian self-government at the Ostland Commissary. As the Red Army approached in 1944, he left for Germany, where from February 20 to May 7, 1945 he was the head of the Latvian National Council. After the end of the war, he was in the areas occupied by Allied troops. In 1957 he left for the USA, where he died on April 11, 1965. Bibliography Authoritative control (person):
