Helmut Sauer (born December 24, 1945 in Lutomierz) is a German activist, CDU politician, chairman of the Eastern and Central European Union (OMV) and chairman of the Silesian Province of Lower Silesia.

In an interview with "Rzeczpospolita" in August 2007 he suggested Poland's responsibility for the so-called "expulsion", the necessity to pay compensation to German citizens by Poland. In his opinion, the European Parliament will deal with the issue in the Polish-German treaty.
