Leonard Winterowski


Attack of 3rd Regiment of Ulaan Slaski (Children of Warsaw) near Sluck, Lubelskie Museum Leonard Winterowski (born 5 November 1868 in Chernivtsi, died 9 May 1927 in Warsaw) is a Polish painter.

He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow from 1895 to 1897 at Teodor Axentowicz. He then completed his studies in Vienna. He made his debut at the TPST exhibition in Krakow in 1897 and also exhibited in Warsaw, Vienna and Berlin.

Initially he painted generic scenes, portraits and landscapes. During World War I, when he served as a war correspondent, he became interested in the subject of battles. He painted mostly episodes from the Polish-Bolshevik war, his works were characterized by dynamism and expression, they were made with oil and watercolor techniques.

In 1913, he made the Stations of the Cross to the Basilica of the College of the Holy Spirit in Przeworsk. Authoritative control (person):
