LHC@home

LHC @ home - BOINC distributed computing platform. Its purpose is to enable accurate calibration of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), built by CERN in Geneva.

The LHC @ home program simulates a particle path 60 traveling at near light velocity in a vacuum inside a circular accelerator. The simulation lasts for 100 thousand. The purpose is to check if the particle beam remains stable, does not scatter or collide with the wall of the device. This would cause serious damage and the need to exclude, to repair, the largest and most expensive research instrument in the world. Researchers and engineers are of the opinion that doing such a simulation thousands of times with different parameters will allow the calibrator to be calibrated so that the problem does not occur.

It is possible to join the project with the use of the BOINC platform developed by the American university in Berkeley. It allows you to freely include and exit multiple projects, as well as manage your computer resources.
