AirSnort

AirSnort - an open source tool for decrypting WEP keys on 802.11b wireless networks. The program uses the GTK + library. There is also a version of the program under Windows. Scott Fluhrer, Itsik Mantin and Adi Szamir (one of the inventors of the RSA encryption algorithm) have published a paper entitled Weaknesses in the Key Scheduling Algorithm of RC4. Blake Hegerle and Jeremy Bruestle have written a tool that collects five to ten million encrypted packets from an access point on a wireless network and then tries to recover the network key from them. Depending on the environment, AirSnort may only take a few minutes, or in most cases, several hours, and in extreme cases up to several days.

The software has not been developed since 2005 - the authors recommend using Aircrack-ng.
