Cappadocian Fathers - Definition of early Christian theologians, Fathers of the Church, coming from Cappadocia. The Cappadocian fathers include St. Gregory of Nyssa, St. Gregory of Nazianzus, an Orthodox tradition called "theologian", and St. Basil. Their teaching was a continuation of the school of Origen, who found defenders in them, who, knowing the merits and extremes of the master, even though sometimes disagreed with him, kept his spirit.

In the writings of the Cappadocian Fathers one can find the subject of original sin. They continued the principal lines of Marianism of the great Athanasius on the constant virginity of Mary of Nazareth, her title of Theotokos, and her purification and sanctification in the Incarnation of the Word.
