Deliler - a madman in the Ottoman Empire, a formation of light infantry divisions held at the border with Christian countries, serving as a front guard during the war.
The formation consisted of volunteers aged 20-25, distinguished by courage. Their patron was the second caliph of Umar. They were armed with a curved machete (scimitar), shield, spear and mace or sticks.
