Kosmos 14

Space 14 - Soviet satellite technology Omega; the first Soviet experimental meteorological satellite. The satellite tested the satellite orientation system using an electric gyroscope (production of the VNIIEM plant), a system of electrically accelerated gyros, braked with electromagnets and interacting with the Earth's magnetic field to provide triaxial stabilization.

Initially it was thought that the satellite was used for geophysical research. It was only 4.5 years after the launch that the satellite was conducting research into the stabilization and orientation of spacecraft for meteorological satellites. He also experimented with solar cells.

The results of these tests, including the cosmic satellite 23, were used in Cosmic 122 and other satellites of the Meteor program.

The ship maintained communication with the Earth via the Mayak radio, operating at 20 MHz. Bibliography
