Natan Szpigel
Still life with a jug Natan Szpigel (born 1886 in Lodz, died 1942 in Treblinka) - Polish painter and drawer of Jewish origin.
He was a member of the Silver Car Association and the Lodz Start. He studied in Lodz, then in 1923-1925 in Dresden and Paris. Spirits' creativity was in the circle of the expressionist tradition, associated with the group "Jung Idysz" and the Poznan "Bunt". In the first works, social issues (eg, exploited or misery) and religious were predominant. Later he painted portraits, landscapes and still lifes. He used to use watercolor.
During World War II he stayed in the Lodz ghetto where he made many drawings depicting the slave labor of the Jews, misery and hunger. These works have survived and are now in the collection of the Museum of the Jewish Historical Institute.
