Tzuf Synagogue in Jerusalem

Tzuf Synagogue in Jerusalem, called the West (Hebrew: בית הכנסת צוף דבש) - Sephardic synagogue located in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, at Plugat HaKotel 15.

The synagogue was built in 1860. The reason was a split in the community of Sephardic Jerusalem, which was made by Jews from the Maghreb countries. The synagogue was named in honor of Rabbi David ben Shimon (acronym D-b-Sz from Hebrew דבש), who came to Israel from Morocco in 1854. There was also a Talmud School and a nursing home.

During the First Israeli-Arab War in 1948, the synagogue building was located in no man's land between the Jordanian and Israeli posts. The building was plundered. In 1980 the synagogue was reopened. There is also a yeshiva in the building.
