Szur (Podlaskie Voivodship)

Szur - a non-existent place lying near Lomza near its original location. Currently located within the village of Stara Łomża - on its eastern edge. The old village of Szur from Stara Łomża was separated by St. Lawrence Hill.

In Szura there was the Lomzynski Castle, founded by Casimir the Great around 1340. The castle was used until at least the sixteenth century. There are no recordings of when the lock ceased to exist. In 1805 the remnants of the walls and the iron gate were excavated.

At the end of the 19th century the village was inhabited only by the Jews. Bibliography
