John Tomcsányi
János Tomcsányi (born Jan Mormula, born September 7, 1873 in Pekelnik, December 30, 1935 in Budapest) is a Hungarian linguist, teacher, translator.
In 1909 he visited Warsaw for the first time, and in subsequent years he came to this city repeatedly, also to present his research work on the mutual literary relations between Hungary and Poland. Since 1920 he worked as a Polish correspondent in the press department of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is an author of articles in the Hungarian encyclopedia about Polish literature.
He studied the art of Henryk Sienkiewicz, Maria Rodziewiczowny, Maria Konopnicka, Wladyslaw Reymont, Juliusz Kaden-Bandrowski, Stefan Żeromski.
In 1932 he received the Polish Pen Club Award. Publications
