London Geological Society
The Geological Society of London - the oldest geological society in the world and the largest in Europe.
Founded in 1807, based on an earlier science club operating since 1796. The purpose of the organization is to support scientific research in the field of geology and their popularization. At his London office in Burlington House (1874), he leads a scientific library.
The Society awards a number of prestigious awards. The highest of these is the Wollaston Medal, established in 1831, and given annually from 1835. Bibliography
