Rapidan Camp

Rapidan Camp, also known as Camp Hoover, was a former resort of the United States President. The resort was built in the 1920s in the state of Virginia, on a private plot owned by President Herbert Hoover.

During President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's presidency, the resort was transferred to Camp David, Maryland, and Rapidan Camp was transferred to the federal government. Shortly thereafter, the estate became part of the newly created Shenandoah National Park and for many years served as a campsite for scout organizations and government agencies, gradually falling into disrepair. On June 7, 1988, Camp Hoover was listed as a National Historic Landmark, restored to the state of 1931 and now available to the public.
