Underground drive - a modified type of shoot growing underground. From the shoot of the ground is different from the lack of leaves, which are transformed into scales, thickness, and lack of corpuscles. Underground shoots occur mainly in perennial herbaceous plants - perennials. They are storage organs - they store backing materials that allow the plant to survive winter (or summer in the tropics) rest periods.
