Access to the local loop
Local loop unbundling (LLU) means that a local loop operator or a local loop subsystem provides access to another operator for the purpose of providing telecommunications services to the end customer. This allows an (alternative) user to develop and provide their own services without having to carry out costly and unnecessary installation work involving parallel cabling from the fixed line telephone access point to the user premises. This is a particularly useful solution, given that most of the premises already have such lines, largely unused. In practice, LLU is currently used for fixed line telephony and broadband Internet access (BSA).
