Jan Tkocz (geographer)
Jan Karol Tkocz (born July 8, 1939 in Czerwionka) is a Polish geographer, specializing in socio-economic geography.
In 1959 he graduated from high school for working in New Tychy and started studying geography at the University of Wrocław. After graduation, in 1964, he was employed at the Silesian Institute in Opole. In 1970, at the University of Wrocław, PhD, the topic of his dissertation was the development of a spatial layout of the land of the Opole Voivodeship in the last century, and the promoter Wojciech Walczak. In 1982, on the basis of the hearing, the Agricultural Estate in Opole Silesia, in the process of socialization of the land, the degree of doctor habilitated. The title of Professor of Earth Sciences was given in 2001.
In the Silesian Institute he worked until 1987, in 1987-1994 he was employed by the Department of Social Geography at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. From 1994 to 2006 he was the head of the Department of Economic Geography of the University of Silesia. He is currently a retired professor. Selected publications Bibliography
