Jyväskylä countryside


Jyväskylän maalaiskunta (Jyväskylä landskommun) is a former rural municipality in Finland, in the former province of Western Finland. January 1, 2009 incorporated into the administrative boundaries of the city of Jyväskylä. It was the last municipality with a maal of name. It was the second (after Nurmijärvi) the village community in terms of population in the country - 36,389 inhabitants on September 1, 2008. Its surface area was 534.34 km², of which 85.05 km² was water.

Jyväskylän maalaiskunta had three main centers - Vaajakoski, Tikkakoski and Palokka. Tikkakoski Airport is located in Jyvaskyla.
