Michał Dunajecki


Michał Dunajecki (born January 18, 1882 in Czarne Dunajec, died 2 August 1933 in Sierszy Wodna near Trzebinia) is a mining engineer and chief executive officer of the Galician Mining Works in Siersa. Curriculum vitae

He graduated (before the change of name) in Cracow, then studied at Leoben in a prestigious mining university and then in electrical engineering in Vienna.

In 1905 he became an "assistant engineer" at the "Artur" mine in Siersza, then in Trzebionka near Trzebinia he directed a mine of zinc and lead ore. He was famous among others. An active participation in rescue of miners during the catastrophe (sinking) of the "Artur" mine in 1910: he saved the lives of two drivers. In the following years he moved up to the post of Chief Executive Officer of the "Artur" Mine, where he earned a reputation for his work on mechanization and organizational improvement.

He actively sought, especially during the economic crisis of the 1920s, to increase the significance of his own mine, as well as other mines in the Cracow Basin, on the domestic market (together with Zymunt Szczotkowski managing director of the mine in Libiąż and engineer Ludwik Oelwein from the mine in Jaworzno-Borach) signed a memorandum on the subject in 1927 addressed to Minister Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski.
