Harmonization Document

Harmonization Document (HD) - a standard adopted by CEN or CENELEC in response to a mandate issued by the European Commission after consultation with the Member States and the to which was published in the EU Official Journal. This standard involves the obligation to introduce it at national level at least by publicly announcing the HD number and title and withdrawing all contradictory national standards. In Poland standards are published by the Polish Committee for Standardization.

Harmonization documents are adopted for use in the EU and in the EFTA area. They relate in particular to products subject to mandatory conformity assessment.
