Ionic complexes
Ion complexes - a type of ions or complexes in which the electrical charge of the central atom and ligands does not equal. Ion complexes may be anions or cations, for example the Pb ion forms four chloride complexes containing from 1 to 4 chloride ligands: Pb + Cl ⇌ [PbCl] (kation monochloroołowiowy(II)) [PbCl] + Cl ⇌ [PbCl2] (dichloro (II), inert complex) [PbCl2] + Cl ⇌ [PbCl3] (anion trichloroołowiowy(II)) [PbCl3] + Cl ⇌ [PbCl4] (anion tetrachloroołowiowy(II)) Of the four possible complexes, three are ionic complexes, and one, [PbCl2], is an inert complex, yet difficult-soluble compound of lead (II), PbCl2. Most of the known complex compounds are ionic complexes, such as ferrocyanides, ferricyanides, lithium tetrahydroaluminate, potassium tetrahydrocarbonate, etc.
