Jaroslaw Kossakowski


Jarosław Michał Kossakowski (July 20, 1842 - December 11, 1889 in Riga), participant of the January Uprising, Zygmunt Sierakowski's adjutant, exile.

He was the son of Ludwik and Ursula of Dyrmont. At the age of 17 he graduated from the Institute of Nobility in Vilnius, then for two years he studied legal studies in Moscow, where he became involved in the activities of Polish conspirators. In 1860 he went to Paris, where he became acquainted with the environment of Ludwik Mieroslawski.

He was active in the January Uprising. Initially he was circus in the city organization in Vilnius, April 4, 1863 joined the Zygmunt Sierakowski. Together with Sierakowski, he was captured on May 10, 1863, at the Skrobishki manor house; He remained at the commander despite the escape order. He was sentenced to death, the penalty was eased to 8 years after the intensive care of the family (reaching even the Prussian royal court).

The years 1863-1871 spent on exile. Initially, he stayed in Piotrowsk, then in Siewaków, Permie and Tambów respectively. In 1871 he returned to Warsaw, soon settled in the family estate of Marciniszki and gained the reputation of a good and modern host. He did not experience leg amputation. Bibliography
