Dmytro Jaciw
Dmytro Jaciw, Дмитро Яців (born 30 July 1907 in Werczany near Stryja, died 19 August 1942 in Auschwitz) is a Ukrainian independent activist, lawyer, deputy minister of government Jaroslaw Stećka.
He graduated from Stryj High School, then studied law at the University of Lviv. Already in his school days he joined the Ukrainian Military Organization, a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists since its founding. In the years 1930-1932 he was the chairman of the OUN in the Stryansk region.
Between 1939 and 1941 he was the district director of the Cooperative Association in Sanok. Member of the Marching Group from Cracow to Lviv in June 1941, participated in the announcement of the Act of Renewal of the Ukrainian State in Lviv, under the government of Jaroslaw Stećka was deputy minister of national economy.
After the liquidation of the Steecki government by the German authorities, he was arrested on September 15, 1941 and imprisoned in the Montelupich prison in Cracow, then sent to the German concentration camp Auschwitz (camp number 49727), where he died after being beaten by the Polish captain.
